After a successful season, this past fall with the Milford Academy former Orchard Park quarterback Jack Sharp is moving onto the University of Iowa.
Sharp will be a preferred walk-on (PWO) with the Hawkeyes and will play for legendary head coach Kirk Ferentz who is entering his 23rd year.
This past fall Sharp through for over 1275 yards and threw 25 touchdown passes in 10 games of work.
A regular on the ADPRO Weekly Top Performers list while at Orchard Park, Sharp drew notoriety with his quick release, running ability and leadership qualities.
As a PWO Sharp will receive all of the support of normal scholarship athletes and is guaranteed a spot on the roster.
In 2019, Sharp won the Ron Jaworski Award given to WNY’s outstanding QB as well as WGRZ’s Class AA Co-Offensive Player of the Year. He left Orchard Park after compiling over 5300 yards and 55 touchdowns.
The Milford Academy is a private school located in New Berlin, NY and is a preparatory school. A number of collegiate and professional football players have chosen the Milford Academy to help them prepare for football after high school.
“This was a genius move by, Jack”, said Craig Dana head fooball coach at Orchard Park. Dana had Sharp under center since his sophomore season. “By going to Milford it gave him that extra year to play, now he has more film and added exposure that he might not have had if he chose a different route.” Dana handled a lot of phone calls during Sharp’s last two seasons with the Quakers. “There was a lot of interest from the D-III’s and the D-II’s. Jack took the recruiting process very seriously. He put the time in to help him gather information so he can make the right decision for him.”
