Lancaster senior Tommy Carlsen has been selected as the WNY Athletics Wrestler of the Week for the week of Wednesday, December 28th to Friday, December 30th, 2022.
Carlsen went a perfect 7-0 at the 56th Annual Teike-Bernabi Wrestling Tournament at Spencerport, Weds. 12/28 and Thurs. 12/29, to capture the 285-pound individual title and tournament heavyweight MOW award while helping the Legends to a 3rd place finish in the team standings. Carlsen pinned six of his seven opponents through the two day event. He also avenged a loss from the opening weekend of the season when he was a 1-0 decision winner in the semifinals over a returning NYS tournament place winner. So far this season, Carlsen is 18-1 overall with two individual tournament titles won.
Tommy is recognized as a captain on the wrestling team and a leader in school with honor roll level grades. According to his coaches, Carlsen is extremely hard working. Tommy was also a captain on the football team and a finalist for the coveted Trench Trophy for WNY’s top football lineman player.
