With a 66-19 road win over Niagara-Orleans league rival Akron on Wednesday night, the Newfane Panthers have secured the team's seventh straight division title and league undefeated season, improving to 35-0 against N-O rivals over the last seven seasons.
"These athletes were focused all season to accomplish this goal for each other," said Newfane head coach Matt Lingle. "It has been fun to watch and coach this group of young men."
This year's team was especially dominant over their league rivals, as the Panthers scored 67 or more points and gave up no more than 18 points in four of their league duals. Newfane took 3rd in the Section VI Division II Dual Meet Championships on January 4th.
Newfane finishes the season with a 5-0 league record and currently sit at 20-4 overall. New York Wrestling News ranks the Panthers #13 overall in the latest small school dual meet rankings (1/14).
