WNYAthletics.com has learned that Bishop Timon Athletic Director and head football coach Charlie Comerford resigned from both positions on Friday.
There was speculation that head basketball coach Desmond Randall had resigned from his position, but he has reportedly told local media that “he has not made any decisions, yet” regarding his future.
In a statement made on social media by the Timon Football account which looks to be controlled by Comerford, he cites the resignation of principal Michele Battin as the main reason for his resignation.
An official statement from Timon posted on their website this afternoon stated that the school did not renew Battin’s contract and thanked Comerford for his years of service.
“We have decided not to renew Mrs. Battin’s contract as principal of the school. We thank her for her many years of service.
As of yesterday, Charlie Comerford has decided to step down as our athletic director and football coach. We thank him for his years of service to our school. We are actively pursuing new candidates for these positions and have nothing but the best interest of our students in mind.”
We cannot confirm at this time, but there is speculation that Timon may drop both programs for the 2017-2018 school year. The Bishop Timon High School twitter account tweeted out that “We are enthused about the 17-18 year & the upcoming sports seasons,” late this morning.
WNYAthletics.com is currently awaiting word from Monsignor Martin executive director Pete Schneider.
