Flames Take Down Lockport/Niagara Falls
Williamsville East (3-1-0) won its third game of the season in shutout fashion, blanking Lockport/Niagara Falls 3-0 at Hyde park on Monday.
Goaltender Adam Guigui stopped all 22 shots faced in the win.
Both teams failed to score in the first period but the Flames would net an early goal in the 2nd period and never looked back. Glen MacLeay led the charge with Will East’s first goal and added a second in the 3rd period. Brennan McCarthy netted the Flames’ third goal.
Austin Bailor made 35 saves for Lockport/Niagara Falls.
South Doubles Up On Lumberjacks
The Billies offense continues to show their depth this season as four different players scored goals in a 4-2 win Monday against North Tonawanda. Christian Williams’ power play goal in the first period opened up the scoring. North Tonawanda answered back with a power play goal of their own early in the second period when Ryan McAvoy got his team on the board to make it a 1-1 hockey game.
Marcus Bratton put the Billies back on top with an even strength goal with 3:31 remaining in the period. Mitchell Kiebala put Will South in front by a 3-1 margin at 14:22 of the third period. McAvoy responded soon after cutting the Lumberjacks deficit by 1.
Connor Browne would give the Billies an insurance goal with 3:25 remaining in regulation and Will South was able to close it out to improve to 3-2-1.
Bennett Pieters made 14 saves for the Billies while Alex Wagner stopped 28 for North Tonawanda.
Marauders Shutout Red Raiders
Joseph Fronczak recorded his 2nd shutout of the season for St. Joe’s as the Marauders (5-0) defeated St. Francis 3-0 at the HarborCenter.
Matt Orlowski had two assists while Sean Deakin, Joseph Tobia and John Armento each scored a goal in the win.
Brennan Brown stopped 25 of 28 shots in goal for the Red Raiders (1-1-1).
The Marauders are back in action Thursday when they take on Williamsville North at the Northtown Center. That game will be livestreamed on the WNY Athletics YouTube Page.
