On Wednesday night, the WNY #1 Legends secured the outright ECIC I wrestling title with a 41-29 win at home over the #8 Hamburg Bulldogs. Lancaster finishes the season with a perfect 7-0 league record while improving to 14-3 overall heading into the NYSPHSAA Dual Meet Championships on Saturday. The league championship is the 25th in program history.
In a season where seven of ECIC I’s eight teams appeared in the weekly WNY large school rankings in any given week, the #1 ranked and sectional dual meet champion Legends passed every challenger that included six wins against ranked opponents just within the league itself. The Legends last won the division title in the 2019-2020 season. Lancaster will make the program’s third appearance at the NYS Duals this weekend after winning the 2021-2022 Section VI Division I dual meet title.
