Niagara Wheatfield Completes Second Consecutive NFL Wrestling Sweep

The Section VI Division I champion Falcons completed the regular season on Wednesday with a 47-18 win over North Tonawanda to secure a second straight 7-0 season in Niagara Frontier League duals for the outright conference title.

Wheatfield finishes the 2023-2024 season at 14-2 overall with a third Section VI Dual Meet title and fourth trip to the NYSPHSAA Duals on the season resume. The Falcons scored forty five or more points in all seven league duals this season led by Garrett Chase, Chase Richards, Te’Shaun Mathews, Joe Cicco, and John Fike who all posted 7-0 individual records in NFL duals.

Against North Tonawanda, nine Falcons earned victories with six of those wins coming by pin, three of which came in a five win stretch run between 138 and 170-pounds where Wheatfield jumped out to a 47-15 lead after leading only 21-15 after the first seven bouts of the match.

Also this season, the Falcons retained possession of the Niagara Cup for a second year in a row with a 45-13 win over archrival Niagara Falls on Jan. 24th.
