Amherst senior Quinlan Lyle has been selected as the WNY Athletics Boys Wrestler of the Week presented by Petruzzi Insurance Agency for the week of Monday, January 13th – Sunday, January 19th, 2025.
Quinlan posted a 5-0 week last week and captured the 138-pound Lockport Invitational title. On Wednesday, Quinlan earned a pin for the #8 Tigers in their 50-24 victory over HM Starpoint to remain unbeaten in ECIC II duals.
Then on Saturday, Lyle earned a technical fall, pin, and major decision on the way to the final where he was an 8-3 winner to capture 1st place. In doing so, Quinlan also achieved his 100th career win to become the 10th Tiger to do so in program history.
According to his coaches, Quinlan is a balanced student-athlete. Because of his dedication to the sport with Amherst Youth Wrestling, he jumped right past modified and landed on the varsity/junior varsity team as a 7th grader. His coaches praise his supreme work ethic and passion for wrestling.
Additionally, Quinlan is the Vice President of the Amherst Class of 2025, is currently ranked 5th in his class standings, and is in consideration for admission to the United States Naval Academy.
