Chautauqua Lake senior Gabbi Testa has been selected as the WNY Athletics Girls Wrestler of the Week presented by Petruzzi Insurance Agency for the week of Monday, February 3rd – Saturday, February 8th, 2025.
Gabbi’s season and career were cut short recently due to an untimely injury. However, that doesn’t mean that she has abandoned her role as a leader and supporter of her teammates.
Gabbi and the rest of the Eagles seniors were honored on senior night last week where #2 Chautauqua Lake was a narrow 32-31 winner over local rival #4 Fredonia. Although unable to wrestle, her school was still able to honor Gabbi’s contribution to Chautauqua Lake girls’ wrestling. She is the last remaining original wrestler from the Eagles’ very first girls’ team in 2021. Gabbi competed at the first and second introductory NYSPHSAA Girls’ Wrestling Invitational in Syracuse and ends with a career record of 51-24 with forty nine pins. Gabbi’s coaches also noted that she went unbeaten in dual meets throughout her career without a single forfeit.
According to her coaches, Gabbi is a hard worker and has been a reliable asset to her teammates. In school she carries a strong GPA. After graduation, Gabbi will attend William Woods University in Fulton, Missouri where she will study equestrian science and wrestle for the Owls under head coach Jacob Lorentz on a full scholarship.
