Fredonia sophomore Avary LeGrano has been selected as the WNY Athletics Girls Wrestler of the Week presented by Sign Gypsies WNY for the week of Monday, January 27th – Sunday, February 2nd, 2025.
On Wednesday, Avary accepted a forfeit in the Lady Hillbillies’ 31-29 narrow win over #7 Orchard Park at home.
Then on Saturday, Avery went a perfect 4-0 on Saturday at the Section VI Girls’ Dual Meet Invitational to help the team to a 3rd place team finish in the final standings. Avary earned a pin against Niagara Wheatfield and a critical technical superiority in the 3rd place match against Dunkirk. So far this season, Avary is 22-6 and a big part of the Fredonia lineup who are 7-1 in duals and ranked 4th in WNY.
According to her coaches, Avary is a rapidly improving wrestler who works hard for her own achievements. Because of her work ethic and character she is also a rising leader for girls wrestling at Fredonia.
