WNY Athletics Wrestler Of the Week: Mushirah Sheppard

Salamanca senior Mushirah Sheppard has been selected as the WNY Athletics Wrestler Of the Week for the week of Monday, February 11th– Saturday, February 16th.

Mushirah is a team captain and outstanding female wrestler at Salamanca High School. Mushirah went 5-0 last Saturday earning four pins and one decision to win the 120-pound title at the first ever NYPHSAA Girls Wrestling Invitational at Niagara County Community College.

Sheppard finishes her senior season with nineteen varsity victories bringing her career tally to eighty-seven wins. Mushirah is a three-sport athlete, also excelling as a swimmer and a pole vaulter on the Salamanca track & field team. She is a captain on all three teams.

According to Salamanca head coach Keith Jones, Mushirah leads by example and pushes her teammates in the room, always in a positive and encouraging manner. She works with and is a role model for the younger girls in the Salamanca wrestling program.
