Niagara Wheatfield junior Chase Richards has been selected as the WNY Athletics Boys Wrestler of the Week presented by D&E Dream Builders for the week of Monday, February 10th – Sunday, February 16th, 2025.
Chase captured the Section VI Division I 152-pound title on Sunday at SUNY Fredonia to ensure a third straight trip to Albany for the 2025 NYS federation championships after having fallen in sectional final each of the last two seasons. Chase earned two pins in the championship rounds of the tournament before a 4-0 decision victory in the title match over a returning sectional champion and fellow state tournament qualifier. Chase also helped the Falcons to the overall divisional team title at the championships and played a key role in the middle of the lineup this season for the NFL and Section VI Duals champions. Chase’s current season record is 38-5.
Chase is an active participant in offseason wrestling and is a leader serving as a team captain for the Falcons. He maintains an honor roll level GPA while balancing athletics and is also the starting quarterback for Niagara Wheatfield in the fall.
