Gowanda sophomore Jayden Fish has been selected as the WNY Athletics Boys Wrestler of the Week presented by D&E Dream Builders for the week of Monday, December 9th – Saturday, December 14th, 2024.
Fish posted a 5-1 record on Saturday at the Union Concrete Pioneer Duals to help Gowanda to a 4-2 overall dual record to take 3rd in the tournament standings. In those five wins, Jayden captured three all-too important pins to maximize team bonus points. So far this season, Fish is 11-4 overall and a big part of why the Panthers are a top-10 WNY small school and a contender for CCAA II honors and sectional Dual Meet tournament qualification.
According to his coaches, Fish is a supremely talented student-athlete who takes all advanced courses at Gowanda HS while starting on the football and baseball teams in addition to his role in the wrestling lineup. His coaches also say that despite being a sophomore, Jayden is considered a leader on the team.
