ST. FRANCIS TRACK & FIELD WIN ALL CATHOLICS

The St. Francis Track & Field team completed the task of winning both the regular season and All Catholic of MMHSAAA Sunday outlasting 2 time defending All Catholic Champion St. Joe’s in team scoring 150 to 145. St. Francis won their first All Catholic Title since 2012. Senior Bo Sirieka set a St. Francis Individual record scoring 38 points over the two days and eclipsing the old record set last year by Jeff Walter who scored 36 points in the 2017 All Catholic. Ben Pinkowski also took home All Catholic honors as he claimed the triple jump title Sunday. St. Francis displayed depth and resiliency throughout the two days as they fought off St. Joe’s who had the lead after first day of the All Catholic.

Highlights included

4×800 earns a hard earned 2^nd place with Charlie Rath, Dan Spencer, Sam Attea and Mike Spencer running 8:51.50
Chandler Edbauer throws a career best 40’8 to earn a 6^th place in the shotput.
Bo Sirieka jumps a career mark 21’9 to win the long jump. Ben Pinkowski jumps a career mark on 21’6.75 to get 2^nd, while Brett Curtin also sets a career mark of 20’4.5 to earn 4^th Xzavier Janczylik earns a 6^th place point with his career best jump of 19’5.5. 23 points are scored in the event by St. Francis.
Sam Attea is all out to earn a 6^th place finish in the 3200m running 11:06.06 in a rain storm. After the event the High Jump is suspended due to conditions. Francis is down 9 points after 4 events.
High Jump is the turning point as Bo Sirieka wins his 2^nd event clearing 6’2 followed by Ben Pinkowski who finished 2^nd clearing 5’8. Tom Moore clears 5’4 to finish 4^th while Dan Busha and Justin Poumpey clear 5’2 to finish 5^th and 6^th. Francis High jumpers all score and earn 25pts. St. Francis is up 16 points after 5 events.
Bo Sirieka finishes 2^nd in the 800m running 2:04.10. His rally comes up short and after the race appears to have injured his leg. Mike Spencer runs 2:10.72 to grab 5^th Sirieka is questionable for the 400 final.
Josh Gabalski finishes 3^rd in the 100m with a time of 11.61 into the wind. Xzavier Janczylik finishes 5^th with a time of 11.95. Francis leads by 9 points after 7 events.
In the 400m, Bo Sirieka shows St. Francis the way by digging down deep to out finish fellow teammate senior Jon smith winning the 400m in a time of 52.36 with Smith running 52.83. Tom Moore grabs another valuable point with his 6^th place finish in a time of 54.38. Francis extends lead to 18 points. Sirieka sets All Catholic point mark for a St. Francis Track and Field Athlete with 38 points and is the 2^nd Athlete to win 3 open events at the All Catholic (Jeff Walter 2017).
Sophomore Patrick Connolly runs a career mark of 4:49.71 in the mile and finishes 4^th. Francis lead is cut to 15 points.
Nolan Thomas throws 117’7 to finish 4^th in the Discus. Eric Schon throws 111’7 to finish 5^th. Joe’s finishes 1-2-3 in the event. St. Francis is down 3 points after 10 events.
Josh Gabalski runs 23.31 in the 200m and finishes 3^rd. Dominik Thomas runs 24.31 in the finals and finishes 6^th. Joe’s extends their lead to 10 points with 3 events left.
Ben Pinkowski leads a St. Francis surge in the triple jump as he finishes 1^st in the event jumping 42’1. Senior Brett Curtin jumps 40’9.75 to finish 2^nd. Junior Dominik Thomas grabs 4^th place in the event jump 38’9 to give St. Francis 22 points in the event. Francis regains the lead going into the final relays up by 9 points.
4×400 finishes 2^nd running 3:39.74 in a race that was back and forth before St. Joe’s prevailed. Ryan Bowen, Mike Spencer, Tom Moore and Jon Smith ran strong legs and their efforts allow St. Francis to hold a 7 point lead with one event left.
4×100 of Ian Snyder, Xzavier Janczylik, Dominik Thomas and Josh Gabalski run 45.07 avoid a disaster with their 2^nd pass of the baton and finish 2^nd in the event behind St. Joe’s.
Francis wins the All Catholic with a total of 150 points beating the 2 time defending all catholic Champion St. Joe’s who finished with 145 points.
