Will-East’s Birzon a Buckeye

The next school soccer uniform Marissa Birzon wears will be the bright red of Ohio State. The Flames career goal scoring leader chose the Buckeyes earlier in the year and signed her letter of intent on Wednesday. Her parents, brother, coaches and a legion of classmates surrounded the senior as she made the announcement official.

“The amazing coaches made me feel really welcome” said Birzon. “Besides the coaching staff, the facilities and the academic opportunities are unreal” Birzon will major in business, in particular sports management.

Birzon leaves WNY as one of the most decorated and accomplished girls soccer player in Section VI. She was All WNY 1st team three years in a row and Player of the Year in 2015, she was Co-Player of the Year in 2016. Additionally, she was on the All-State team the past three years and Class A NYS Co=Player of the Year in 2016.

“My goal is obviously to be the best I can at Ohio State, a dream would be to move on but I’m more focused on Ohio State right now” she added.
