Niagara Wheatfield 7th grader Gabriella Barone has been selected as the WNY Athletics Wrestler of the Week for the week of Monday, January 23rd to Saturday, January 28th, 2023.
Barone captured the 100-pound individual title at the 1st NYSPHSAA Girls Wrestling Invitational on Friday in Syracuse, going a perfect 4-0 with four pins on the day.
So far this season, Barone has placed at every tournament she has been entered in while routinely appearing in the #11 state ranked Falcons’ lineup. Barone is currently 22-17 overall this season and 6-0 against girls.
According to her coaches, Gabby is a pleasure to have on the team and has quickly earned the respect of her teammates with her hard work and dedication. Additionally, Barone maintains good grades and is a leader in school.
