East Aurora junior Aidan Sheehan has been selected as the WNY Athletics Boys Lacrosse Athlete Of the Week for Week Three of the 2019 season (Thursday, April 4th – Sunday, April 7th).
Goalie Aidan Sheehan has been a huge part of the Blue Devils’ 5-1 start this season after having faced some of the best teams in the section so far. At the end of Week Two he was key in helping take down the returning Class C champion West Seneca East as well.
In Week Three, the Blue Devils faced 2018 Class B runner-up Williamsville East on Monday, Class C runner-up Eden on Wednesday, and a dangerous Amherst team on Friday, finishing 2-1 against them.
Sheehan made nine saves against the 7-0 Flames in a close 9-5 loss to one of the top teams in the section and perhaps the state. Against the Raiders, Sheehan recorded a .714 save percentage stopping 10 of 14 shots in a nail biting 5-4 win over a battle tested Eden team. Then, on Friday, Aidan cooled a surging Tigers squad that had scored double-digit goals in three straight wins, stopping 14 of 21 shots to help East Aurora to a 10-7 win. After three weeks of play, East Aurora is the top team in the Class C standings.
