Falconer senior Austin Chase has been selected as the WNY Athletics Wrestler of the Week for the week of Tuesday, January 17th to Saturday, January 21st, 2023.
Chase started the week off with a huge pin in the first match of the CCAA I title showdown at Chautauqua Lake on Wednesday, wrestling up two weights from his normal 145-pound class. On Friday, Chase accepted a forfeit against league rival Southwestern in the Golden Cougars’ win.
On Saturday, Chase dominated the competition at the Gowanda Round Robin tournament going 5-0 while tallying three pins, a tech fall, and a major and the way to the 145-pound title. Austin has a current season record of 39-3. He is a returning Class C/D finalist and 5th place finisher in Section VI Div. II.
According to his coaches, Chase has given five years of loyal service to the Golden Cougars team and is a leader by example on the team and is a strong student in school.
