Maple Grove sophomore Luke Tomlinson has been selected as the WNY Athletics Wrestler of the Week for the seventh week of the 2019-2020 season (Monday, 1/6 – Saturday, 1/11).
Tomlinson went a perfect 5-0 with four pins and a decision against the field in the 132-pound bracket at the Patrick Morales Memorial Tournament at Falconer. In the final, Luke captured the 132-pound title with a pin over a returning sectional champion. Tomlinson is 29-1 this season with twenty-three pins and avenged his only loss of the season to Eisenhower, PA’s Easton Headman with an 11-4 win in Falconer on Saturday.
Tomlinson, who finished 3rd in Section VI Division II at 120-pounds last season, already has nearly 140 career wins as only a sophomore. Luke’s coaches characterize him as a true student/athlete and leader both among the team and in the classroom as he regularly carries an A+ average.
