Southwestern freshman Tavio Hoose has been selected as the WNY Athletics Wrestler of the Week for the week of Tuesday, December 6th to Saturday, December 10th, 2022.
Hoose capped off an impressive second week of the season with a perfect 5-0 record while capturing the 189-pound Portville Invitational title. Hoose contributed a technical fall in the #3 Trojans CCAA I win over Fredonia on Tuesday. On Saturday, Hoose cruised in the 189-pound bracket with an impressive pin over a fellow returning sectional place winner in the semifinal. In the final, Tavio was a convincing 7-2 winner over another returning Section VI champion.
So far this season, Hoose is 10-0 with two impressive wins over other returning Section VI champions.
Hoose captured the Section VI Div. II 172-pound title last season as an 8th grader. Tavio is an honors student at Southwestern High School and has a talent for art. According to his coaches, Tavio works extremely hard in school and at wrestling and is a leader by example.
