Boys lacrosse results and highlights from Week Nine games played Monday, May 13th – Wednesday, May 15th.
Monday, May 13th
Akron 17 – Medina 10
The Donovan Nephew/Kaleb Delaney attack duo once again put up monster numbers. Nephew recorded 5 scores and 2 assists while Delaney added 2 scores and 3 assists for the Tigers. Ryan Yaeger scored 3 goals while Carter Jensen, Braley Abrams, and Travis Fry all recorded a pair of scores. Millard Young added 1 score and assist as well while Tim Longwell contributed on two scores. The game was the final regular season Class D contest for both squads. Akron heads into playoffs with a 6-2 record in D while Medina ends the season 4-4 in D.
Kenmore 9 – City Honors 3
The Devil Dogs wrapped up their home slate in the team’ first full varsity regular season on senior day with a win. Seamus McPhee and Lucas Correa each recorded 3 goals in the win. Max Surdyk and Alex Ghosen each netted 1 score and 2 assists while Frank DiGennaro found the net once. Brendan Bastian earned the win in net making 17 saves.
West Seneca East 13 – East Aurora 10
The Trojans and Blue Devils split their head to heads with one win apiece during the regular season. The Class C race is wide open early in the final week of the regular season. Colin Schmatz led West Seneca with 4 goals and 2 assists. Zach Arnone led in overall scoring with 7 points by netting 2 scores and contributing 5 assists. Shaun Dolac recorded 3 goals and 2 assists for the 10-5 Trojans who improved to 8-2 in Class C.
St. Joe’s 15 – St. Francis 6
‘Joe’s wrapped up another undefeated season in league action at 8-0 and improved to 17-1 overall. Kellen Pulera tallied 6 scores and an assist while Hunter Parucki added another 3 goals and 3 assists. Ryan McGorry tallied 3 goals and an assist to break the program record for goals in a season by a midfielder at 41. Evan Mulderig added 2 goals and Sam Latorre 1 to round out the scoring for the Marauders.
Amherst 14 – Sweet Home 2

Tuesday, May 14th
Hamburg 9 – Williamsville East 8
After trailing for most of the game Brett Chiodo broke an even 8-8 score late in the fourth quarter to put the Bulldogs ahead for good with only 40 seconds remaining as Hamburg held on to win. The Bulldogs finish the regular season 12-4 overall and a perfect 10-0 in Class B. East finishes 12-4 and 7-3 in B. Brock Schneider led all scorers with 4 goals and an assist for the ‘Dawgs. Chiodo and Spencer Nyhart each added a pair of scores and Matt Walsh netted 1 goal. Walsh and Brian Colmerauer each recorded 2 assists as well. Jared Evenden earned the win in net and made 13 saves. Dom Piccillo led the East scorers with 3 goals and an assist. Dylan Schihl netted 2 scores while Ryan Mitchell, Jordan Polk, and Clayton Osborne recorded one apiece.
Williamsville North 12 – Niagara Wheatfield 7
On a huge night for Class B postseason implications the Spartans helped themselves to the 2nd seed for sectionals by winning and jumping past Williamsville East. North and Wheatfield finish their season series with one win apiece. Scoring results not submitted.
West Seneca East 10 – West Seneca West 9 (OT)
The Trojans took back the Yelich Trophy after a one year hiatus as a Tyler Arndt goal in overtime sealed the win against the crosstown rivals. Arndt led the East scorers with 3 goals while Shaun Dolac, Jack O’Brien, and Colin Schmatz each recorded 2 scores. George Newcomb notched 3 goals for West while Jake Cooper and Evan Sherk each scored a pair.

Wednesday, May 15th
Akron 11 – Bishop Timon 7
Akron completed its 2019 home schedule with a win on senior day against the Tigers. Braley Abrams led Akron with 4 goals while Donovan Nephew added 3 scores and an assist. Dominic Lettieri netted 2 scores and an assist and Kaleb Delaney and Ryan Yaeger eached added one score for Akron. Liam Regan earned the win in net making 10 stops.
Clarence 13 – West Seneca East 11
The Red Devils stopped an East team that had won two big games on Monday and Tuesday. It was the final regular season game for the Trojans who finish 10-6 overall before playoffs. Clarence sits at 8-7 overall and hosts Akron on Friday night. Scoring results not submitted.
