Boys lacrosse results and highlights from Week Eight games played May 6th – May 8th.


Monday, May 6th

Akron 23 – Iroquois 13

The Tigers carried their ferocious scoring pace from Week Seven right into Week Eight, stopping a surging Chiefs squad that had won its last six straight games. Donovan Nephew led the scoring barrage with 9 goals and and 3 assists and also achieved his 100th career goal. Kaleb Delaney added 4 scores and 2 assists, Ryan Yaeger netted 3 scores, Joe Abrams scored 2 goals and added an assist, and Millard Young, Travis Fry, Tim Longwell, and Sly Sundown each scored once for the Akron who improved to 8-3 overall. Young also tallied 7 assists In five straight wins Akron has outscored its opponents 102-32.

Eden 6 – West Seneca East 4

The Raiders improved to 7-6 and got revenge on the Trojans in a rematch from the 2018 Class C final. Scoring results not submitted.

Amherst 16 – Lockport 5

Amherst has won five straight games improving its overall record to 8-4. Scoring results not submitted.

Niagara Wheatfield 18 – Lake Shore 6

The Falcons improved to 8-4 overall with a bounce back win after last Friday’s stinging loss. JT Hamby had a huge game winning 17 of 18 face offs, scooping up 18 ground balls, and scoring 5 goals. Chase Chapman netted 3 goals and 2 assists for Wheatfield. The Falcons host West Seneca West on Thursday in a Class B game that will be critical for both teams.

Lewiston-Porter 13 – Newfane 11

The Lancers squeezed out a win behind 9 points from Dan Gambino in the form of 6 goals and 3 assists. Joe Powers added 2 goals and 6 assists, Jack Evert notched 3 goals and 2 assists, and three more players added 1 score each.

Williamsville East 11 – Williamsville South 4

East got back on track after dropping two tough games in Week Seven. The Flames visit Frontier before a home regular season finale against Hamburg. Scoring results not submitted.

St. Joe’s 15 – Nichols 8

‘Joe’s beat Nichols by the exact same score for the second time in five days. This time Hunter Parucki led the scorers with 5 goals. Trevor Galante added 2 goals and 3 assists while Ryan McGorry netted 3 goals. Evan Mulderig recorded 2 goals, an assist, and 5 ground balls. Max DeFranks added 2 goals and Kellen Pulera 1 for the 14-1 Marauders who locked the Monsignor Martin regular season title and the first seed in the league tournament.

Tuesday, May 7th

West Seneca West 10 – Williamsville North 9 (OT)

The Indians got revenge on the Spartans after having lost 8-6 back on March 28th and moved to within a game of North in the Class B standings. Each squad has one B game remaining on the schedule. Jake Cooper was the overtime hero for West scoring the game winner and 3 goals in regulation. George Newcomb recorded 5 points scoring 3 goals and contributing 2 assists. Dan Cantafio made 17 stops in net for the Indians and in the process recorded his 300th career save.

Orchard Park 9 – Clarence 4

The Red Devils held the Quakers to 10 less goals than when they met the first time this season back on April 9th. With four more home games on the schedule they’ve settled into third in Class A since none of those games are against fellow A teams. Keep an eye on Clarence down the stretch. Wednesday, May 8th

Amherst 12 – Iroquois 6

The Tigers vaulted themselves square into the Class C conversation by beating a solid Iroquois team that had won 6 of its last 7. Amherst improved to 9-4 overall and 7-2 in Class C and has now won 6 straight. Andrew Johnson scored half of Amherst’s goals. Jack Faller added 4 scores and Ryan Bitka and Eli Dunkle each found the net once. Joe Byrne contributed 5 assists and Bitka added another pair. Caden Menegaux stopped 15 shots in net for the Tigers.

Salamanca 18 – Wilson 1

The Warriors finish the season a perfect 8-0 in Class D and are 10-1 with only one regular season game left on the schedule. Scoring results not submitted.

East Aurora 18 – Lake Shore 6

The Blue Devils pushed their Class C record in 2019 to 7-0 and 10-2 overall. East Aurora will finish the season with three straight road games two of which are at West Seneca East and Iroquois. The Devils will need to make sure to take care of business as surging Amherst and Trojans squads are climbing the standings. Scoring results not submitted.

Eden 12 – Kenmore 5

Eden took a 6-0 lead into halftime but the scrappy Devil Dogs battled back in the second half. Scoring for Kenmore were PJ Abbott with 2 goals and Seamus McPhee, Alex Ghosen, and Papouch Schmoyer who all tallied 1 score each. Max Surdyk added 2 assists Brendan Bastian stopped 15 saves in net.

West Seneca East 14 – Williamsville South 7

The Trojans improved to 7-4 overall. East will have a busy final week of the regular season playing five games in seven days. Scoring results not submitted.

Williamsville North 10 – Grand Island 7

The Spartans held off an upset minded Vikings squad on the road for their eighth win on the season. North will host Niagara Wheatfield in a critical Class B showdown for each team next week. Scoring results not submitted.

Lewiston-Porter 10 – Depew 5

The Lancers put together back to back wins for the first time this season after having won on Monday too. Jack Evert had another busy night scoring 5 goals and contributing 3 assists. Joe Powers added 3 goals and Cole Murdoch and Tyler Chretian each scored once. Dan Gambino tallied 5 assists for Lewiston as well.

Canisius 17 – Akron 16

The Crusaders got a marquee win on the season in a shootout with the recently surging Tigers. Joe Abrams led Akron with 5 goals and an assist while Travis Fry added 4 scores. Ryan Yaeger recorded 3 goals and 2 assists while Millard Young tallied 2 scores and 3 assists. Caleb Delaney and Carter Jensen each found the net once. Delaney assisted on 3 scores as well.
